Program Description and Objectives

The purpose of this program is to prepare nurses to take the either the PCCN® or CCRN® examination offered by the AACN Certification Corporation. PCCN candidates attend days one and two and CCRN candidates attend all three days. Content that is common to both exams is presented during days 1 and 2 and then CCRN-specific content is presented on day 3. The program is also appropriate as an update for progressive care or critical care nurses. Teaching methods to be utilized include lecture/discussion, practice questions, case presentations, and slides. It is highly recommended that you study prior to attending this review course if you are planning on taking either the PCCN or CCRN examination.

At the completion of this program, the nurse will be able to:

  • review critical physiology of each core body system.
  • discuss significant assessment and diagnostic findings for each core body system.
  • discuss etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic findings, and specific patient management of commonly seen progressive and/or critical care conditions.
  • Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The program begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. with one hour for lunch and 15 minute morning and afternoon breaks.
